Ramblings from 30,000 and many miles from home

Date: Sun, Jul 4, 2010 Wine Tasting Winery Blogs Wine Business

I seem to talk a lot about planes these days. Morning in Houston will soon fade into morning in Athens. Amy and I are hurling through the inky void on our way to the fabled island of Santorini.. The fact that we are traveling at 30,000 feet while maintaining a speed of almost 650 miles [...]

For Purple Mountain Majesty…

Date: Sat, Jul 3, 2010 Wine Tasting Winery Blogs Wine Business

I've always thought that America The Beautiful should be our National Anthem. One, because it's much easier to sing. Who are you calling a Shameless Hussy?

Date: Fri, Jul 2, 2010 Wine Tasting Winery Blogs Wine Business

At the tasting we met a delightful couple, Don and Judy Phelps, owners of "Hard Row to Hoe" Vineyards. They poured a refreshing Sangiovese Dry Rosé. And Judy told me the story behind the name. Seems that back in the late 1930s, there was a brothel located at Point Lovely.

We’ve said before wine tasting can be hard work. After two days of tasting starting in Seattle, heading to Woodinville, back to Seattle, then making our way southeast, we are finally in Walla Walla, Washington. I’m drinking my first actual full glass of wine, sitting on a big comfy bed at Vine & Roses [...]
