I wanted everyone to see this comment left on my blog because I thought it was ridiculous:

If you think like this guy I would suggest changing your view on life and putting priorities in order.

#1 On CardPlayer 07 Any Stakes Total Profit leaderboard!

Date: Fri, Nov 2, 2007 Professional Internet Tournament

I finally took over the #1 spot on the CardPlayer 07 Any stakes total profit leaderboard. It was inevitable since infamouspade has been at a standstill since he hasn't been luckboxing $500+ like clockwork anymore. The tough part is going to be holding off LuckBoxFromHell, Bigjoe2003, & Power2prut the rest of the year. All are top notch players. It would be nice if I could because winning the leaderboard is one of my ultimate goals. I wish you got something for it but the prestige of being the most profitable SNG player in the world is enough for me. I started out with a goal of being the most profitable 6 man player in the world and accomplished that so hopefully I can step it up a notch and be the most profitable SNG player period. I plan on playing some crazy volume the rest of the year so that should help. If I continue to average about 820 VPPs per hour I need to average around 63 hrs/week the rest of the year to reach 1.5 million VPPs, since I'll only be playing about 6.5 more weeks this year (taking Christmas week off & half of Thanksgiving week off). However, I'm going to try to play more than this for now and try to get ahead of pace in case my VPPs/hr goes down for some reason. It would be a shame to miss out on that last $10K milestone bonus. I also need to play a ton if I want to reach my profit goal of $300K. The high stakes games don't fill as well as they used to be, but my average games per hr has gone up to around 15-16/hr since I got my 4 monitor setup going, so that compensates for the lower avg. stake a bit.

I was on a horrible run where I was losing over 2,000+ SNGs so October wasn't the greatest. Hopefully I'm out of that slump though. It sucks that these streteches are inevitable in this day and age. It seems as though the realistally attainable ROIs keep going down too, because the games keep getting tougher.

Kenny05 came down to MN last weekend. A bunch of us went out to the bars Saturday night and then we went tailgating Sunday morning & went to the Vikes-Eagles game. It was supposed to be me, my girlfriend Paula, Kenny & his friends Chritsian and Jon, my bro Jeff, & his girlfriend Katie. My bro messed up his knee though & Christian couldn't make it so I just got 3 of my friends to go to the game with us.

Rant On Table Selection

Date: Wed, Oct 31, 2007 Professional Internet Tournament

Ok, I'm getting really sick of people not being able to put their egos aside and use table selection. It's simply not profitable for 3 top players to play in a 6 man SNG together, even with rakeback, unless the other 3 players are just complete fish, which is rarely the case in this day and age.

Others do it but I'll use River Prayer as an example, as he's probably the most extreme case. Me and DDBeast or another top player are signed up for a SNG. Does River Prayer make any attempt to avoid us? I'll give you a hint: the answers rhymes with oh. I've brought this to his attention & he basically just gets defensive about it. He plays 9 mans AND 6 mans on 2 different sites and you're telling me he can't table select? To think that he's +EV in a 6 man that already has me and DD or whoever in it is simply arrogant and egotistical. Well jhub, the higher games don't run enough so you can't table select anymore. To that I say this: Would you rather play a $565, $325, or $235 where you can't make money in the long run or a $119 or $78 where you are profitable in the long run? The answer seems obvious but most people are either too naive to think that they might be -EV in a game or they just hate money.

Here's a few examples of the effect on ROI:

jhub3000 MikeMcQ1 Combined
Total Played 29036 9763
Played Together 115 115

Av. ROI Apart 9% 9% 9%
Av. ROI Together -4% -9% -6.5%

DangleSauce jhub3000 Combined
Total Played 7175 29036
Played Together 271 271

Av. ROI Apart 10% 9% 9.5%
Av. ROI Together 2% -3% -0.5%

jhub3000 kenny05 Combined
Total Played 29036 12086
Played Together 1184 1184

Av. ROI Apart 9% 11% 10%
Av. ROI Together 1% 1% 1%

DDBeast River Prayer Combined
Total Played 13742 13667
Played Together 667 667

Av. ROI Apart 6% 2% 4%
Av. ROI Together -3% -3% -3%

bigjoe2003 River Prayer Combined
Total Played 15850 13667
Played Together 2111 2111

Av. ROI Apart 5% 2% 3.5%
Av. ROI Together -2% 3% 0.5%

LuckboxFromHell z32fanatic Combined
Total Played 7127 10443
Played Together 823 823

Av. ROI Apart 6% 2% 4%
Av. ROI Together 6% -5% 0.5%

It's pretty clear after looking at these #s that it's just not that profitable for top players to play together. Not only that but a lot of these #s are from 9 man SNGs. The effect is much greater in a 6 man SNG because there's less players. Not only that but people are signing up for SNGs with 2 top players already in them, making it 3 top players. Sharkscope doesn't have #s for 3 players playing together but all it takes is common sense to see that it's not profitable. I can understand not using table selection for those who are going for supernova elite and will be cutting it close at the end of the year like DDbeast, but that's about the only excuse other than being close to a milestone bonus.
