Walnut Crest 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon

Date: Tue, Aug 24, 2010 Wine Tasting

Price: Around $7 Color: Dark red Nose: Blackberries and oak Taste: Medium bodied.   Tannins are not there at all.  A bit too much oak on the palate. Summary: This is a table wine, and an ok one at that.  For the price, I recommend going with a Gato Negro or one of Trader Joe’s [...]

Carmen 2009 Sauvignon Blanc

Date: Mon, Aug 23, 2010 Wine Tasting

Price: Around $7 Color: Pale yellow Nose: Grapefruit Taste: Dry, young fruit with a not so pleasant acidity. Summary: I found this wine to be a bit abrasive.  Feels underripe all around.  This will be useful in my kitchen for cooking.  Good dry body will be great for sauteeing and deglazing…but not drinking.

Date: Tue, Aug 10, 2010 Wine Tasting

How to Make Chilean Empanadas It is accurate to assume that most Chileans put their own little unique touches on their empanadas recipe.  This recipe will show you how to make Chilean Empanadas in a fairly classic fashion.  In Chile lard is still used in traditional cooking, and it doesn’t get much more traditional than [...]
