Poker players have another week to participate in the Deep Stack Extravaganza I Poker Tournament at the Venetian Poker Room. This is the original poker tournament that set the standard for lower buy-in events that provide poker players with average bankrolls (you won't have to take out a second mortage to enter) the opportunity to play with larger starting stacks and longer play levels.

Calling the Super Bowl just another football game is like calling a 255 mph Bergatti Veyron just another family sedan. This is the big one, the best of the best slugging it out in the climate controlled confines of the huge Cowboy Stadium in Dallas. Even the commercials are special and guaranteed to keep attention rivited to the TV screen.
Competing with the tail end of the Caesars Winter Poker Classic, the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza is running now through Feb. 24.
Four times a year, this tournament is one of the best in Las Vegas. We think it's second to the World Series of Poker, in terms of the players it draws, the types of tournaments, the structure, and just how well run the whole thing is.
Events range from $220 super satellites to $340-$550 buy-ins to no-limit hold'em, to the $5,000 main event beginning Feb. 20.

Now's the time to start training and getting your body used to Red Bulls, because...
The new World Series of Poker schedule is here! (And you only have 126 days to prepare.)
Beginning May 31 and running through July 19 (with the Main Event on July 7), there will be 58 events (one more than last year) which will make it the largest WSOP in its 42 years.
Daily events in the Caesars Palace Winter Poker Classic are happening now at one of the world's most luxurious poker rooms. This is the poker tournament that doesn't require the players to have a play bank the size of a Buick. In fact, many of the events are easily entered with a single Franklin + the obligatory $20 entry fee. There's also $200 + $30 and $300 + $40 events. The Championship event is $500 + $50. There's even a qualifier for the 2011 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.

Two men have been exploiting a bug in video poker machines that took them from Pennsylvania to Las Vegas. Crossing state lines makes it a federal crime, and because of that they’re up for conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
The criminal complaint (PDF published here on Wired.com’s site) states that John Kane and Andre Nestor “knowingly and intentionally defrauded gaming machines” to the tune of $429,000 over 60-some wins, all within a couple months in 2009.

America's Party welcomed in the New Year with a gigantic fireworks show along the Las vegas Strip. For over eight minutes the colorful bombs exploded over the famous boulevard as hundreds of thousands of revelers said goodbye and good riddance to 2010.
The players were sitting hunched in their seats,
With the national economy playing dead the big Vegas casino companies are reporting 1st Q earnings below last year's record numbers. Record gasoline prices makes the journey to the desert gambling mecca prohibitively expensive for some while arriving visitors are bringing smaller bankrolls. Unfortunately, aeroplanes are the carriage of choice for the majority of Vegas visitors. It's been the life blood of Las Vegas and now those arteries are blocked by post 9/11 fears.
All of this doom and gloom news should cast a pall over Vegas, a dimming of the of the famous Vegas neon. Right? Of course not. This is Vegas, Baby.
