2004 Château Mouton Rothschild;
Ruby, cassis, leather, bell peppers, vanilla, tobacco, very complex. Fresh acidity, good balance, nice texture, textbook Mouton, always open and layered it seems. Ripe tannins, velvety and intens, still it feels secretive, it has even more for the future with a very elegant thread of freshness throughout it and beautifull length. 93
2004 Château Margaux;
Ruby, floral and intens of jasmin and violets, pure blackcurrants, some tobacco and extremely layered. Gorgeous texture, fantastic acidity, pure, elegant, superb mouthfeel, textbook elegance. And fantastic length. Pure joy to drink, wow! 94
2004 Château Haut-Brion;
Bright ruby, some tarracotta minerals, elegant blackcurrants, to complex to be easily defined and even tender feel to it. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, balanced, pure and long, very closed now, not quite giving away it's secrets. Fresh, youthfull and great length. 93
2001 Château Montrose;
Deep ruby, closed, vanilla, darker fruits, coffee and leather with more air. Never opened up fully, fresh acidity, mouthwatering, high of ripe tannins, elegant and lively, good length. Falling apart after 30 minutes..... Isn't it to kind and caressing for a young Montrose? Next bottle needs to followed throughout an evening, or maybe for two days..... 91 first, 88 after.
2002 Château Pontet Canet;
Ruby, some red fruits, not very intens. Fresh acidity, high of ripe tannins, slightly astringent texture, good balance, but lacks complexity..... 85
2001 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande;
Bright ruby, touch of brick rim. Leather, anis, blackcurrants, complex, almost leaping out of the glass. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, very lively feel, elegant texture, pure and mouthwatering. Cedar and a touch of cigars and again that beautifull freshness, long length. 93
2004 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande;
Bright ruby, pure elegance, cassis, touch of cedar and vanilla with some cigars and very pure fruits. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, slightly lean body but intensity and freshness of fruit carries it superbly, nice balance, very good length. I drink this chateaux wines way to seldom. 92
2001 Château Pontet Canet;
Bright ruby, garnet rim, anis, leather, cassis, starting maturation, and touch of plums. Very elegant, fresh and lively acidity, ripe tannins, great texture, has finesse, good anis and leather finish. Long. 90
2004 Château Pontet Canet;
Deep ruby, lots of coffee, anis and cassis and other sweetish fruits. Much more forward than the bottle last saturday, some vanilla and chocolate. Fresh acidity, elegant tannins, ripe, intens and balanced, long finish. 89
2004 Château La Mission Haut-Brion;
Ruby, vanilla and terracotta with blueberries and cassis. Velvety texture, fresh acidity, very ripe tannins, pure elegance and balance and very pure fruit. Feels very lively, youthfull and fresh and extremelly well put together with a great length. A pleasure to taste. 93
2001 Château Haut Bailly;
Corked, tried with plastic in the glass, it took away maybe as much as 90% of the cork aromas, but it was still there in the background even if there was remarkably better fruit. Still, it's not sufficient.
2001 Domaine de Chevalier;
Ruby, some minerals and terracotta, anis, vanilla and darker fruits, and a touch of leather. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant and good balance, quite intense and very long. 89
2004 Château Carmes Haut-Brion;
Ruby, slightly rustic nose, vanilla and oak over cassis and herbs. A bit lean body, good acidity, ripe tannins and some more astringent from wood, needs time to pull around, rustic style, ok length. 85
